If you’ve been hoping Ubisoft would finally pull back the curtain on Assassin’s Creed Hexe sometime this year, you might want to lower your expectations. According to industry insider NateTheHate, the next mainline Assassin’s Creed game is still at least a year away from being properly unveiled, simply because its release isn’t expected anytime soon. Replying to a fan on X, NateTheHate claimed that Hexe is currently targeting a launch in the second half of 2027 at the earliest, adding that Ubisoft has no reason to rush an announcement this far ahead of release.
If that timeline proves accurate, it means fans could be waiting quite a while before seeing any meaningful gameplay or even a full reveal.
The project has remained one of Ubisoft’s most mysterious games ever since it was first announced. So far, the publisher has only teased that Hexe will take players to medieval Europe and feature themes centered around witchcraft. At the time of its reveal, franchise executive Marc-Alexis Côté described it as “a very different type of Assassin’s Creed game.”
Beyond that, very little is officially known. Development also appears to have gone through a few shakeups behind the scenes. Earlier this year, game director Benoit Richer announced his departure from Ubisoft, just months after creative director Clint Hocking also left the project. Those departures followed broader restructuring within Ubisoft that led to the creation of Vantage Studios, a new subsidiary formed with Tencent to oversee some of the publisher’s biggest franchises, including Assassin’s Creed.
While Hexe remains a mystery, Ubisoft has been enjoying plenty of success with the series elsewhere. The recently released Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has exceeded expectations, selling more than 3 million copies in just one week while also breaking Steam records for the franchise. With that momentum behind it, Ubisoft can probably afford to take its time with Hexe rather than rushing another reveal before it’s ready.
For now, though, it looks like Assassin’s Creed fans will have to be patient, because if this latest report is accurate, Hexe is still a long way from making its debut.
